Dear Fellow Crossposters – Some of You Are Hurting, Not Helping

Stop Pet Euthanasia/Beyond Crossposting

An exchange with a fellow member of a rescue-oriented group that does discussions about shelter reform, instead of crossposting/networking, showed how there really is a right and wrong way to do crossposts.  When I posted a polite reminder not to share crossposts per group rules, this one member got combative and then proceeded to continue sharing the posts there anyway, resulting in removal from the group.

I understand that some have limited financial or other resources to help with rescue and find crossposting to be their outlet. There’s nothing wrong with that – however, crossposting is one part of a larger equation and if done wrong, actually hurts the animals that rescuers are trying to help.

Here are some things to avoid:

  • Don’t crosspost in groups that don’t allow such posts – you’ll make it harder for people trying to address the issues to find…
