For Zion’s Sake…and Ours

As I was reading Isaiah 62:1-5 recently, I thought of how Christians often set themselves apart from each other in ways that aren’t necessary. The bridegroom and bride imagery is found throughout Scripture, and points to one major truth: Christ is the bridegroom, and the Church (made up of all Christians, not just us of the Anglican persuasion) is the bride. We’re all in this game together.

No matter whether it’s a case of Christians disagreeing with each other over hot-button politics or people hurt by Christianity rejecting professing Christians in their lives, a lot of the walls we put up have no real foundation. If we were able to keep what binds us together, rather than what divides us in mind, we would be much better off.

Remember that God didn’t stay silent for Zion’s sake. God doesn’t stay silent or rest for our sake, either. We must always keep in mind that the same God who has always delivered the people of Israel from trouble is there for us, too. Let’s stick together as fellow Christians, and be a source of encouragement to others.
