Blessing of the Animals

I think this is an exciting event for anyone who has pets, and especially kids. In the Episcopal Church, this is often held on St. Francis’ Day or at a Sunday service just after St. Francis Day.

It’s always humorous, for me anyway, to see how everybody’s pets interact with each other. Not every pet behaves like a “proper Episcopalian” (Anyone who’s familiar with my Weimaraner can attest to this)

Another thing I’ve liked at some pet blessing services I’ve been to is the option of having a stuffed animal brought in place place of their own pet. That way, everyone still gets to pray for your pet.

I think this is a nice tradition, especially with all the nastiness this world has to face. What are some of your favorite stories about blessing of animals services?
